Is there something more hated than the short sleeve man shirt? Even if there is only a few inches of fabric less than its honored counterpart – the long sleeve shirt – this item has long been a joke for many!
However, it’s time to abandon theassociations with the bus drivers, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Homer Simpson. Because a short sleeve shirt can be really useful when the heat of the summer begins to get ahead and we want to avoid those nasty sweat spoils that ruin a look put together with so much care.
Today menswear has dusted off the short sleeve shirt to encourage us to consider it again as a classic of our wardrobe.
What to wear with a short sleeve shirt …
The key to wearing a short sleeve shirt is to keep the word “smart-casual” in the center. This means understanding that this essential item in our wardrobe doesn’t work well with other casual clothes like denim jeans. The sloppy result is around the corner.
To create a look that will surely work, the short sleeve shirt can be combined with chinos, tailored trousers (or tailored shorts in warmer climates) along with summer shoes such as sandals, moccasins, or sneakers. However, to make the look less formal better point to a shirt with some textures – such as the one from BadRhino you see in this outfit- with a check pattern.
… and what not!
Never use it with a pocket pouch. And never wear it on a t-shirt if you are not a skater.
Hang it up if you want to look particularly formal or leave one or two buttons opened for a more relaxed effect. And never wear a short sleeve shirt with a tie unless you work at airport or at airline controls.
