If there’s a common misunderstanding about streetwear is that it’s easy to wear. Yes, compared to some garments typical of men’s clothing such as jackets or blazers, you would think that creating a “street” look is to take a pair of jeans, a T-shirt, some sneakers and you’re done. But considering how many brands today are inspired by the streetwear culture, we realize that putting together a strong streetwear outfit requires an extra effort.
Hoodie, the essence of the street
The hoodie remains the only piece that captures the essence of the street. It’s hard to think of any piece of clothing that had a story like the hoodiet. Over the last century, this sports item has moved from the underground to the catwalk, passing from an urban subculture to a real acceptance.
Just like with Elvis, jeans, electronic music and all the other aspects of youth culture that were initially never welcomed “by the grown ups”. Because the hoodie is functional and comfortable. And it’s versatile: there are not many men’s clothing items that work either for an afternoon watching Netflix or at the gym or for a walk downtown.
An urban streetwear men outfit with KiTe hoodie
With all that in mind, in the outfit you can see in this post I decided to wear a hoodie by KiTe, with a camouflage texture. A simple hoodie that gives priority to quality and performance rather than design. Despite this, however, the minimal written “YAK” (similar to a logo) makes it recognizable and unique immediately.
Combined with a black structured joggers and a pair of sneakers just as recognizable as the Adidas Yeezy, we can create a great streetwear look that doesn’t seems like “fan at a concert” or “buff gym”.
