Despite the sweaty calves in the summer, switching to shorts can be a risky move.
Too short – matched with a blazer, a shirt and a tie – and we’ll look at the first day of elementary school. Below the knees and we will look like a competitor of a 200os talent show. There are a couple of rules about how and when to pull out the knees. And the fashion world adapts perfectly to our need of freshness!
The perfect plus size shorts: chinos
In the last decade the shorts have shortened, leaving room for a new wave of tailored shorts: the chino. The fault seems to be a scene of 007 Daniel Craig for Casino Royale: since then, the length of the shorts has changed, touching the lower part of the thigh. A smart idea to avoid cutting the knee, offering the illusion of not being too low (as often happens when wearing shorts).
The strength of this style, however, especially for plus-size people like me, is that having the legs (and calves) free make the figure even more balanced. This is why it is important to pay attention to the upper part. But you have avoid the cargo shorts with pockets: having things to bring is a problem easily solved with any bag.
How to combine chino shorts with a shirt
The best style for the warmer evenings are the chino shorts, which allow you to give a little shock to the outfit respecting the standards of style. But how to combine them? A shirt is definitely the most important investment you can make for your summer look.
When it comes to shirts, there are two main areas to focus on: sleeves and shoulders. And the cut and sew shirt with kaki panel of ASOS PLUS that you see in this post enhances them thanks to two inserts, respectively gray and black. Cotton (or linen) are points of reference when considering fabric options. Cotton styles, like this shirt, are more structured, making it ideal for a more formal, but not elegant look.
The important thing is never wearing ties or similar in this type of look (at most, use a necklace), unless you are the pilot of a jumbo jet.
