Our relationship with weight is the biggest and most insidious cause of our relationship with food. It is not possible to have a good relationship with food being afraid of gaining weight.
If we are still hungry and we choose not to eat for fear of gaining weight we don’t have a good relationship with food. And if we accept our body as long as we don’t get fat we will never have a good relationship with food.
The relationship between food and weight
We often believe that keeping our weight low is important and responsible. We are afraid of gaining weight because we have learned somewhere that weight gain will lead us to a terrible fate.
But it’s not like that.
Health is a noble goal and we all deserve to be healthy. But being desperate for health through weight is unhealthy. The attempts to reach a certain weight slow us down increase stress, make us unhappy and at least only sicker.
Weight-obsessed people don’t have time, energy or passion for anything else. And they substitute for the value of weight family, hobbies, own projects, fun and travel
How to avoid the fear of gaining weight
Do you know how you can have a good relationship with food without thinking about weight?Eating!
Only by eating we will not think about food even when we are not hungry. Only by eating we can understand when we are fed without thinking it too much. Only by eating we will give food a neutral meaning and we will nourish our body without using food as an outburst because we are distracted, tired, stressed or sad.
If we want to learn how to have a good relationship with food we must change our idea of weight. And eating, of course 🙂
