It seems incredible that sneakers were once appropriate only for gym-goers or rappers. Today the evolution of dress codes (less formal) has given the opportunity to wear sneakers for every occasion. But after this, the world of male footwear stopped: few men experience the joy of experimenting new model of shoes!
I do not mean to become maniacs like Imelda Marcos, the legendary Filipino first lady who owned over 3,000 pairs of shoes, but there are other models of shoes that can be safely explored without being particularly extravagant.
Slip-on shoes: the sneakers without laces
The internationally recognized symbol of this type of shoes are the slip-on with the dark upper and white sole – for too long underestimated because of their pedigree for skateboarders and rockers. A real feat of human ingenuity in favor of the lazy, eliminating the trouble of continuous fastening of the shoes.
Flexible and lightweight, the slip-on shoes also deserves a place in every wardrobe for their ability to be worn not only with shorts, but also with light chinos or padded jeans. In other words, it’s difficult to find another model of sneakers that is so versatile and suitable for the hottest temperatures.
How to pair slip-on shoes
The best rule to combine slip-on shoes is to wear them with tailor-made clothing and soft colors. Their classic silhouette in fact fits perfectly, for example, with linen or seersucker clothes.
If you opt for a pair in cotton, which also have the advantage of being cheap and last much longer than their canvas equivalents, slip-on shoes are able to convey formalities and therefore can be worn as part of a smart and modern clothing.
