For years we believed that men’s clothing should be simple and tight. But this is not entirely true. For example, the blazer is an essential element of the male wardrobe – almost everyone has one in the closet – but beyond the traditional fitted one there is a new direction (with a loose boxy fit, long sleeves and padded shoulders) that is moving forward: the oversize blazer.
In recent years, oversize tailoring has become a really important trend, especially for street style. And oversize blazers have easily become the most famous garment of this trend given the change in their functionality: not to be used (only) for the office, but excellent as a substitute for the coat in the warmer seasons.
How to combine an oversized blazer with a neutral color
Thanks to its silhouette there are a variety of ways to combine an oversize blazer with more modern garments, from the addition of printed trousers to elements of sportswear. Also, beyond exaggerating with the proportions, we can add some color and texture to make things more interesting: in this outfit for example I wore a light viscose shirt over a classic suit trousers in a green shade and an oversized blazer by Heartbreak Plus. Choosing structured cotton blazers with a contrast of patterns, as in the case of the shirt, is a proposal that can make the look casual at the right point.
The oversize blazer is destined to become a must in the male wardrobe because it is easy to wear over almost everything we already have in the wardrobe.
