Sometimes a trend pulls another. If in this Fall the Western effect embraced everything, from boots to jackets, for Summer 2018 one of the most fun trends of the season are fringes – ubiquitous from simple accessories like caps.
While in Fall the fringes have been used in a more stratified way, this time they are free – creating an original and fun accent for clothing. Whether it’s dresses, jackets, trousers or sweaters, the fringes make their way into the collective consciousness of men’s fashion, creating movement and irony.
Men fringe trend: everyone loves it!
Everyone, from the ancient Greeks to Marilyn Monroe, had an experience with fringes.
Homer’s Iliad is full of references to fringes: Era wore a fringed belt that “caused excitement” and Athena wore hundreds of gold fringes “each worth 100 oxen”. In Some Like It Hot Marilyn Monroe played her ukelele wearing a black dress with a plunging neckline and a fringed hem.
In short, it was a destiny that fringe trend would land in men’s clothing.
Your first time? Find out how to wear fringes in your look
If you have no idea where to start, but you’re fascinated by this men fringe trend, the easiest way to introduce them in your look is a simple garment like a t-shirt. The fringes will be a fun detail that will add a touch of madness to the look you will combine it with.
In this outfit I chose to wear the longline long sleeve t-shirt with extreme fringe back by ASOS PLUS along with a skinny jeans full of rips and zippers, a pair of white high-plaform leather brogues, a wide-brimmed hat and round sunglasses with yellow lenses by ASOS. A dark look to give to fringes a more subversive tone!
No matter what is your mood: the fringes are an embellishment that will help you express it. At least by what you wear!
